Guide
How to use EcoBorder
CBAM puts a carbon price on EU imports of aluminium, iron and steel, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity. The EU importer pays, but they need verified emissions data from the non-EU producer, so the work flows up the supply chain. Pick the path that matches you, or jump to a specific tool.
Quick start by role
I am a non-EU exporter or manufacturer
You make a CBAM-covered good and sell, or want to sell, into the EU.
- Check scope: open the CN Code Checker, search your product, pick your country, and see the official 2026 default value.
- See the cost of doing nothing: the checker shows the penalty default cost per tonne.
- Calculate your real number: use the Emissions Calculator to get your actual SEE, usually lower than defaults.
- Model the bill: use the Tax Calculator for your EU-bound tonnage.
- Produce buyer-ready figures: use the Communication Builder for the official EU communication.
- Save and reuse: sign in, create a project, and store your work.
I am a consultant or adviser
You run CBAM engagements for clients and collect data from their suppliers.
- Create a project per client in the Workspace.
- Scope exposure with the CN Code Checker and Readiness Check.
- Add the client's suppliers and send each a private data-request link.
- Turn collected data into SEE and cost figures, and save them to the project.
- Deliver the Communication Builder output and use the audit trail as your record.
I was sent a supplier data link
A customer asked you for your material's embedded emissions.
- Open the link your customer sent. No account is needed.
- Read who is asking and for which material and year.
- Enter direct emissions, indirect or electricity emissions, production, and energy source.
- Submit. Your data goes only to that customer.
I am an EU importer
You want a quick estimate of your CBAM exposure.
- Open the Tax Calculator and add a line per goods type with annual tonnes.
- Set the reporting year and certificate price.
- Read the net liability and quarterly cost, and export CSV or JSON.
- Confirm exact CN codes and country defaults in the CN Code Checker.
